If you enjoy the macabre, you will love this collection of chilling tales. For me, it is Helen's almost-poetic use of imagery that places her writing up high - her similes and metaphors are always original, never clunky or cliched (where's the accent when you need one?). I admire Helen's skill with them very much.
I started the book the night it arrived and was half-way through before I knew it. Some of the tales are definitely not for the faint-of-heart, dealing with the more evil and shocking aspects of humanity, as well as grim fantasy - but if that's what you like, I thoroughly recommend it!! Enjoy!

An incredible collection of delightfully dark short stories–sometimes chilling, sometimes heartbreaking. Helen effortlessly weaves poetry through plotlines across just a few pages per story, whilst always ending a tale at its natural point. There are many brilliant examples within this collection of the true artistry which can be delivered in a short story. Highly recommended..

I wanted something real - something that reminded me of humanity, of the guts of life, and that we are capable of deep and original thought. I found it here. I was reminded that lyricism can be found in prose, and that Orpheus follows us into the darkest places. I am a fan.
